Vladimir Velinov, MD, PhD – Associate and
General Consultant of International
Psychological Services for East Europe
Dr. Velinov is a
clinical and forensic psychiatrist with over 40
years of professional experience. He is the
Immediate Past President of the Bulgarian
Psychiatric Association, the Head of the Program
for Specialty in Forensic Psychiatry and from
1995 to 2008 he was the Head of the Clinic of
Forensic Psychiatry and Forensic Psychology,
Medical University Sofia, Bulgaria, Europe.
Dr. Vladimir Velinov is a
tenured clinical professor of psychiatry and
clinical psychology at the Medical University,
Sofia, Bulgaria; Also he is a visiting professor
at the Sofia University; South-West University
in Blagoevgrag; and Burgas Free University. The
disciplines he has taught include Clinical and
Forensic Psychiatry for Medical Students,
Continuous Education and Specialization in
Forensic Psychiatry; Psychopathology,
Psychiatry, Drug Dependence, Ethopeady, and
Social Work with inpatients.
Dr. Velinov has participated in over 60
researches and publications in clinical and
forensic psychiatry and professional ethics.
Dr. Velinov has testified as
an expert in more than 600 criminal trials. His
forensic experience also includes more than 200
civil depositions and trials, including civil
commitment for dangerous patients.
Dr. Velinov has appeared on
numerous popular, professional, and news
programs on the National Television and the
National Public Radio. He and his professional
opinion and work have been widely featured in
professional editions and popular Bulgarian
newspapers. |
