Sarah Utterback, Psy.D.,
received her Masters of Arts and Doctorate in
Clinical Psychology from Argosy University
(Illinois School of Professional
Psychology)-Schaumburg. Prior to that, she
attended Southern Illinois
University-Carbondale, where she obtained her
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Dr. Utterback has
extensive experience working with individuals of
all ages in various settings that include
child/adolescent residential agencies,
psychiatric hospital, crisis intervention
center, therapeutic day school, and private
practice. Dr. Utterback’s areas of
specialization include the assessment and
treatment of children, adolescents and families
that have suffered from maltreatment,
grief/loss, sexual/physical abuse and trauma.
Dr. Utterback has experience in working with
children and adolescents with severe emotional
and behavioral disorders. Her therapeutic
techniques include play therapy, art therapy,
cognitive-behavioral, client-centered,
psychodynamic, and family systems. Dr.
Utterback has been trained in
neuropsychological, educational, psychosexual,
psychosocial and multidisciplinary specialty
assessments.
For her doctoral
dissertation, Dr. Utterback completed an
analyses of self-injurious behaviors combined
with factors such as type of self-injury, eating
disorders, substance abuse, physical, sexual and
emotional abuse using the Self-Report Inventory
at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital.
Dr. Sarah Utterback is
a member of the American Psychological
Association and the Illinois Psychological
Association.
