Susan Sigel, Psy.D.
Susan Sigel earned her
Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from The
Illinois School of Professional Psychology,
Chicago in 2001. Dr. Sigel completed her
predoctoral internship training at St. Therese
Hospital, Waukegan, Illinois in 1999-2000. She
completed her postdoctoral training at The
Center for Psychological Services, where she has
remained.
Dr. Sigel is a
licensed clinical psychologist in the state of
Illinois. Dr. Sigel has extensive experience in
neurobehavioral disorders and learning
disabilities. Her areas of specialization
include evaluation and assessments of children,
adolescents, and adults, post head injury
evaluation, parenting difficult children,
forming home-school alliances, pre-surgical
evaluations, and psychological ramifications of
physical disabilities. She has served on the
professional advisory board of the North
Suburban Chapter of Children and Adults with
Attention Deficit Disorders. She is a certified
Court-Appointed Special Advocate. She is on the
executive board of the Israel Sports Center for
the Disabled, a leader in the field of
rehabilitation through sports.
Dr. Sigel's approach
to treatment is to find practical interventions
that can be carried out within the client’s
daily life. She helps parents and patients learn
to advocate for their needs in school and the
workplace. Dr. Sigel often works in tandem with
educational consultants, psychiatrists,
pediatricians, tutors, schools, and other
clinicians to develop a holistic plan for the
patient.
Dr. Sigel supervises
doctoral practicum students at The Ark in
Chicago. She is fluent in Hebrew.
