Shannon Riley, PsyD, received her Doctorate in
Clinical Psychology from the highly accredited
Illinois School of Professional Psychology.
She holds both a Masters and Bachelors degrees
in Psychology and Special Education,
concentrating in the areas of Learning
Disabilities and Social/Emotional Disorders. Dr.
Riley has been employed as a Licensed Clinical
Psychologist, Parent Coach, Special Education
Teacher and a Consultant.
Dr. Riley has worked with a wide range of
individuals in various settings including
hospitals, residential centers, independent
living, community mental health, outpatient
clinics, public and private schools, therapeutic
day schools, and private practice. Dr.
Riley has successfully worked with children,
adolescents, and adults of all ages. Dr.
Riley attributes her ability to relate to a
diverse client base through her genuine
appreciation of life’s trials and tribulations,
utilizing her sense of humor and keen listening
skills to assist her in her clinical work.
To address the needs of the elderly individuals,
Dr. Riley completed her Doctoral Dissertation on
Geriatric Depression. Her dissertation
defined and clarified the problems in diagnosis
and treatment of geriatric depression. In
addition, effective diagnostic and therapeutic
interventions were formulated and outlined so
that they can be recognized and implemented in
the clinical setting to assist physicians and
mental health care providers. Further,
diagnostic and therapeutic interventions that
can assist loved ones of elderly persons in
effective diagnostic and management strategies
were identified.
Dr. Riley is a member of the American
Psychological Association, Illinois
Psychological Association, Psi Chi (The National
Honor Society in Psychology), Council for
Exceptional Children, Learning Disabilities
Association, and National Education Association.
