Maegan Cooper, PsyD, received her Doctorate
in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern
University in Downers Grove, Illinois. Prior
to that, she attended the University of Iowa
and Bradley University, where she obtained
her Bachelors of Science in Psychology.
Dr. Cooper has primary clinical interests in
adult, adolescent, and child psychotherapy,
and has experience working with individuals
of all ages in various settings, such as
community mental health centers, public
schools, inpatient psychiatric hospitals,
homeless shelters, and private practice.
She has experience helping individuals deal
with various disorders, such as anxiety,
depression, personality disorders, anger
management, and interpersonal relationship
difficulties. Dr. Cooper’s therapeutic style
is primarily cognitive-behavioral, though
she integrates various other techniques
including family systems, dialectical
behavior therapy, and play therapy. In
addition to individual therapy, Dr. Cooper
has experience conducting group and family
therapy.
Additionally, Dr. Cooper has experience and
interests in working with individuals who
are struggling with Obsessive-Compulsive
Disorder and other related anxiety
disorders. She specializes in assisting
individuals
with relieving their anxiety through a
combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy,
exposure therapy and response prevention.
Dr. Cooper is a member of the American
Psychological Association, Illinois
Psychological Association, Anxiety Disorders
Association of America, and is an honorary
member of the Illinois Counseling
Association.
