Elizabeth A.
McVey, Psy.D. received her Masters of Arts
and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from
the Illinois School of Professional
Psychology-Chicago. Prior to that, she
attended the Purdue University, where she
obtained her Bachelors of Arts in
Psychology.
Dr. McVey has
worked individuals of all ages in various
settings, such as a community mental health
centers, inpatient treatment facility,
college wellness center, public schools, and
private practice. She has experience
helping individuals deal with various
disorders, such as Depression, Anxiety,
Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder,
Autistic Spectrum, and interpersonal
relationship difficulties. Life
transitions, such as marriages, new jobs,
moves, or pregnancy, are an area of interest
for Dr. McVey. She incorporates various
theories into her work, including
person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and
family systems. In addition to individual
therapy, Dr. McVey conducts group therapy,
couples therapy, family therapy, and
psychoeducational consultation sessions.
For her doctoral
dissertation, Dr. McVey developed a treatment
plan based on the family systems theory for
injured adolescent athletes participating in
a team sport.
She incorporates adolescent development,
injury, rehabilitation adherence,
interpersonal relationship, investment,
motivation, imagery techniques, and sport
psychology theory into a comprehensive
program aimed at assisting adolescents,
their families, peers, and coaches through
athletic injury.
Dr. McVey is a
member of the American Psychological
Association.
